How to view Nextbase dashcam footage on your computer

Play Nextbase 622GW, 522GW, 422GW and Piqo recordings on a PC or Mac without the MyNextbase Player. Front and rear cameras in sync, sorted by day and time.

Nextbase is the best-known dashcam brand in the UK and sells widely across Europe and the US. Its desktop software, MyNextbase Player, and the MyNextbase Connect phone app do the job, but plenty of owners just want to put the card in a laptop and look.

How Nextbase names its files

240315_143022_001_FH.MP4

  • 240315 is the date, with a two-digit year (15 March 2024)
  • 143022 is the time
  • 001 is a sequence number
  • F or R is the front or rear camera, and the last letter (H or L) is the quality

Protected clips (from a bump or the red button) go into a Protected folder. Rear camera modules add their own files with R in the name.

Watching Nextbase footage with Tripframe

Tripframe recognises Nextbase names, including the two-digit year.

  1. Put the microSD card in your computer.
  2. Open the app in Chrome or Edge, or in Firefox or Safari through the folder picker.
  3. Choose the card.

Every drive appears by day and time. Clips from the Protected folder are marked as events. If you have a rear camera module, its file is paired with the front file from the same moment, so both play together.

Useful keys

  • Space play and pause
  • , and . step one frame back or forward
  • S save the current frame as a PNG
  • R record the view (both cameras in the current layout) as a new video

GPS

Nextbase stores GPS in its own format, which Tripframe does not read yet. The video plays fully; the map panel stays empty. If you need the route, MyNextbase Player shows it.

Nothing to install

Tripframe is a web page, so it works on a work laptop, a family computer or a Chromebook. The files are read locally and never uploaded.
