Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. The browser reads the files on your own computer. The site only serves the app itself; your footage is never sent to it.

Which dashcams work?

Viofo, BlackVue, Thinkware, 70mai and Nextbase file names are recognised, including front, rear and interior cameras, events and parking mode. Other brands work when the file name contains a date; otherwise the file date is used.

Which browsers can I use?

Chrome and Edge on a laptop or desktop give the full experience, including remembering the last folder. Firefox and Safari work through a folder picker.

My clips show an error instead of a picture

Many dashcams record in H.265 (HEVC). Edge plays it on most Windows PCs; Chrome needs the HEVC Video Extension from the Microsoft Store; Safari on a Mac plays it out of the box.

Does it cost anything?

No. It is free to use, with no account and no ads.

Can I save a still from a video?

Yes. Pause, step to the right frame with the comma and full stop keys, and press S. The frame is saved as PNG, JPG or BMP, named after the date and time of that exact frame.

Can I use it for other folders of photos and videos?

Yes. Any folder of photos and videos is sorted by day and time, using the date in the file name or else the file date: a phone export, an action camera or a drone card. Dashcams are what it is built for; this is a handy second use.

Can I export the GPS route?

Yes. Under the map, choose GPX, KML, CSV or GeoJSON. Markers you add to the route can be exported as GPX too.

Can I join clips into one video?

Yes. Every trip in the library has a button per camera that joins its clips into one MP4 without re-encoding, so there is no quality loss. In Chrome and Edge the file is written straight to disk.

Does it work with GoPro?

Yes. GoPro clips are sorted by their file date, and the GPS route, altitude and G-force are read from the GoPro telemetry.

Does Tripframe send anything over the internet?
