How to view Vantrue dashcam footage on your computer

Vantrue's N4 Pro, N5 and E-series record up to four cameras at once. Here is how to watch all of them on a PC or Mac, sorted by day and time, without extra software.

Vantrue is known for multi-channel dashcams: the three-channel N4 and N4 Pro, the four-channel N5, and the compact E-series. They are popular with rideshare drivers who want the road, the cabin and the rear covered. More cameras means more files, and that is where watching on a computer gets messy.

What Vantrue gives you

Vantrue offers the Vantrue app for phones, and its cameras can be read with general GPS players on a computer. There is no single place that shows every camera of a moment together, sorted by when it happened.

How Vantrue files are named

Vantrue uses names that include the date and time of recording, with a letter or suffix for the camera. Exact names differ by model and firmware. Event clips go into a separate event folder, and parking clips into their own folder.

Watching Vantrue footage with Tripframe

Tripframe reads the date and time from any file name that contains them, and recognises the usual front, rear and interior markers.

  1. Put the microSD card in your computer.
  2. Open the app in Chrome or Edge.
  3. Choose the card.

Clips are grouped by day. Event and parking clips are labelled based on the folder they are in. Where the camera letter is recognised, the front, rear and interior files of the same moment are paired and play together. Files Tripframe cannot pair still appear on their own, at the right time.

Three cameras on one screen

With three cameras, press 1 for side by side, 2 for picture in picture and 3 for one camera. Drag the edge of the small picture to make it bigger. Press R to record exactly what you see, all cameras in the current layout, into a new video file you can send to an insurer.

GPS

Many Vantrue models use the same Novatek platform as Viofo and store GPS the same way. When they do, Tripframe shows the route and speed on a map. If the map stays empty for your model, the video still plays normally.
